History
The Berks County Kennel Club was organized in January 1925. Founding members were: George W. Carr (who was the club’s first president), Pat Fletcher, Irwin Hollenbach, Dr. Earl E. Romberger, Harry Rumble and D. Rubenstein .
The first dog show was a three-day event held September 16, 17 & 18, 1925, at the Reading Fair Grounds. The Club was very active and considered part of the Reading/Berks social scene. It worked closely with the Humane Society to help homeless dogs and in the education of the dog-buying public.
