Welcome To
Berks County Kennel Club

We are a club of purebred dog enthusiasts, promoting and protecting the AKC dog breeds we love...
Come explore our activities and learn about our passions.

The Berks County Kennel Club was organized in January 1925. Founding members were: George W. Carr (who was the club’s first president), Pat Fletcher, Irwin Hollenbach, Dr. Earl E. Romberger, Harry Rumble and D. Rubenstein
The first dog show was a three-day event held September 16, 17 & 18, 1925, at the Reading Fair Grounds.
The Club was very active and considered part of the Reading/Berks social scene. It worked closely with the Humane Society  to help homeless dogs and in the education of the dog-buying public.
